By Default, searching transactions returns ALL subdomains

More of a comment / documentation issue...

Performed a transaction search and I received ALL transactions of all subdomains by default. This was confusing because the merchant_id was used to authenticate. Do I need to specify the merchant ID and/or subdomain when searching?
